So, I’ve finally made the leap from using Wacom products (mainly the Bamboo and Intuos pen tablets) to Apple’s latest iPad Pro.
It’s been a good six weeks of use, primarily using the Procreate tool, and I have to say it’s an app-killer in terms of competing with the traditional Photoshop / Wacom combination for most illustrators. Apple have finally caught up with the industry leaders in this latest version of their flagship tablet and the new Apple Pencil.
Zero parallax and super responsive are two major pluses that have been lacking from other display tablets I’ve tried in the past. The glass screen is so thin (even with a matte screen protector) that you closer to your image than ever before. Not to forget the stella wireless, magnetic charging for the pencil.
Add to this the absolutely fantastic Procreate and you’re flying. The people behind this gem of an illustration / art tool have done away with the cluttered screens of it’s existing competitors and left you with an intuitive, gesture-based experience that is closing fast on replacing Adobe’s CC as the go to for both professional and amateur artists alike.
I will be uploading some of my iPad based artwork as I work it into my existing workflow.
